You should try shooting WITHOUT EIS sometime. I've found it can make my videos less stable at times, not to mention it chops the view to be less wide angle.

i dont get why this "expert" is calling it Full HD when he also says 1080i, surely full HD is 1080p?!

Which camera should I get?
I'm looking for a portable, handheld flash memory card based video camera that can shoot high definition footage that can be uploaded directly to YouTube. Basically I want the best video quality, audio quality and ability to send the file directly to YouTube without any editing or re-compressing.
Does anyone know if there are samples posted online somewhere of all the video formats (high, medium and low resolution) these cameras can shoot to test out? Thanks!

I notice that the HD2 tahat you shot with can focus very close - at 9:16 to 9:24 and 11:00 to 11:15, it seems to have locked onto the dirt on your wide-angle auxilliary lens. you had to zoom past the minimum focus to get it off. Impressive close up ability.

This would be the BEST CAMCORDER ON THE MARKET IF it was 1080P, had 24P frames, had 3CCD or 3CMOS and different recording format other than H.264 or MPEG4.(I'm also missing 4:4:4 color sampling rate but no camcorder on the market has 4:4:4)
Sanyo is right on the money going tapeless, you don't have to recapture on PC or MAC which SAVES so much time. I can't believe CANON hasn't gone to SD/CF cards yet.

At least Sanyo is encouraging innovation and listening to consumers because this is something we all want.

I agree, but there isn't any camcorder that is powerfull enough for 1080p 24fps today as far as I know, at least not for consumer friendly prices. And 4:4:4 I guess would also require much more bitrate wouldn't it? I would especially like such a camcorder to record at VBR high precision in lower bitrate, such as 4mbit/s for 720p, that would be better to then upload the video on the Internet and the quality would be the same as a 9mbit/s low precision encoding.

Yes, very good video. I have an HD1A that I have had only one year. I am considering upgrading to this one for the higher quality video and better low light capability. Do you know if the sound quality is better? The HD-1A has poor sound.

i = interlacing, in other words, all frames contains ½ pixels and not full pixels. P = progressive, which means that all pixels are full pixels.
The main diffrence is that P looks more like a real film.

I think Sony are just making 1080i cameras still. It might de-interlace when you output using HDMI, but when you put the file on a computer, it's still 1080i.
